The Cautious Managed sector has seen extraordinary growth in recent years. From being a sleepy rural backwater as 'Equity and Bond' funds, this sector has become so mainstream that flows often rival that national treasure of the open ended market, Equity Income. Unfortunately history tells us that the best selling sector of the moment is rarely the right one for the longer term. So let me try and make a case for why this sector is not just another fad, while also discussing some of the features and we hope, virtues of how we manage the Gartmore Cautious Managed Fund.
