SRI Services & Fund EcoMarket news update

I am feeling a little light on things to celebrate right now, and the most recent IPCC report Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability did nothing to lift spirits, however it is not all doom and gloom. There is certainly something positive to be said about the outpouring of support and sympathy for Ukraine.  It turns out most of us do care about others (I have not cried so much in years) - which is something to hold on to at this time.

As well as the personal horrors - and doubtless environmental impacts - Russia's war on Ukraine also naturally has implications for investors.

We wrote to our partner fund mangers last week asking for links to published commentary on this topic.  We have been publishing this on our 'Learn from our Partners' page  linked here as it arrives.

We also issued a survey to all managers yesterday to try to ascertain the exposure sustainable funds have to Russian stocks.

We will publish results when we receive can - but broadly speaking my expectation is that most of the established sustainable, responsible and ethical funds are unlikely to have any/ any significant exposure because of exclusions around oppressive regimes, fossil fuels etc.

However the often newer passives/trackers and EM funds in particular are likely to have more of an issue - although I'd expect them to be relatively underweight compared to standard benchmarks because of the reasons above.   We will post a blog on Fund EcoMarket when we have more to say.

Moving on, I am hoping the next time I write we may have something to report on our new website, but the wait goes on.  It turns out combining three websites (with hundreds of moving parts) into one is not all that easy.

I wish you happy reading & clicking and hope you find this useful.
